Having had the recent opportunity of taking care of one of my niece’s I have a greater understanding and love that our Heavenly Father has for each of us and especially when we do not make righteous choices. This sweet innocent little girl has parents who have made some of their own choices and now choose to live a different lifestyle then what they were raised with. My little moments with her are like molecules in the eternities as I try and help her find her moral compass in this life. With these small moments that I have with her I am trying to help navigate her to the Savior where she can turn for peace and comfort. I am so grateful of the Spiritual gifts the Savior has given us to help us navigate towards our eternal goals. What a comfort it is to know that there is a plan providing us with a Savior, Jesus Christ. His sacrifice makes it possible for everyone who complies with His gospel teachings to be forgiven through repentance. What a comfort it is to know that help is available for us to succeed in our endeavors to return to live with our Heavenly Father. May we remember we are not alone and Heavenly Father has given us the necessary gifts as we navigate through this life. Heavenly Father is mindful of each one of us, He listens to and answer our prayers. As we develop our faith to believe in the words of prophets, we will strengthen our testimony of the plan of happiness and the central role of Jesus Christ in it. When we make good choices, we will not be lost, and we will reach our eternal home.

Relief Society: A Call to Minister
Recently, Sister Beck spoke to a group of Relief Society sisters and Priesthood leaders in Idaho. She suggested that as members of Relief Society we are called to minister in the Savior's name. Sister Beck said, “Our work is to help each other get to eternal life with our Heavenly Father and have the blessings that He promised us if we were faithful,...We are part of the Lord’s work of salvation.”
What does it mean to minister? The Church Handbook says,"The purpose of ministering is to help others become true followers of Jesus Christ. Ministering to others includes:
◼ Remembering their names and becoming acquainted with them (see Moroni 6:4).
◼ Loving them without judging them (see John 13:34–35).
◼ Watching over them and strengthening their faith “one by one,” as the Savior did (3 Nephi 11:15; 17:21).
◼ Establishing sincere friendship with them and visiting them in their homes and elsewhere (see D&C 20:47)."

We minister as we help fulfill the purposes of Relief Society. What are the purposes of Relief Society? Sister Julie B. Beck said, “Our purposes are . . . to increase faith and personal righteousness, to strengthen families and homes, and . . . to seek out and help those in need.”
Sister Beck also said that we are all in need of something often on a daily basis. Every day we come into contact with people that may be in need of something. She suggests, “don’t ever assume that the person you’re talking to doesn’t need something also.”
In order to minister for the Lord, We must prepare not only through prayer, scripture study, and fasting, but also through the development of our talents. The Lord will use our talents to help touch the lives of others and build up his kingdom.
We must also seek the guidance of the spirit as we minister. Sister Beck taught, "Meeting another’s needs, whether temporal or spiritual, requires spiritual preparation." Without the guidance of the Holy Ghost, “we don’t have the help of our Heavenly Father in doing His work.”
She also taught that “if visiting teachers or home teachers are preparing with the Spirit when they go into that home, they will know some things to look for, or they will be aware by the Spirit of whether they might need to take care of something.”
Finally, Sister Beck states, “This is a sacred opportunity. We can invent all the issues we want to not do the Lord’s work. But if we choose to come into this great society, this wonderful sisterhood that is here to provide relief, then we become part of the Lord’s work.”
It is my hope and prayer that each of us knows how important we are in doing the Lord's work here on the earth. Through proper preparation and receiving guidance through the Holy Ghost, we help to fulfill the purpose of Relief Society and minister in the Lord's name.

March Presidency Message
Happy Birthday to my fellow Park Glen Sisters!
Did you know that the Relief Society organization was established on March 17th, 1842. Julie B. Beck said: “The purpose of Relief Society, as established by the Lord, is to organize, teach, and inspire His daughters to prepare them for the blessings of eternal life.”
As I am in my hotel room pondering what I should share with you I am drawn to each of our personal journey in this life and how our journey is really not that different from our earlier pioneer sisters who crossed the plains trying to make it to the Great Salt Lake. Our journey today is not marked by the number of physical steps we take, or by measuring the physical distance from one place to another. Instead, our journey is measured by the number of steps we take in our spiritual progression. When we lose sight of our destination or forget the journey we are on, we can end up wandering and making no progress. The Savior Jesus Christ wants nothing more than to help you and me on this journey. He created us for that end. He has given us everything we need to make the journey. But He cannot force our footsteps. We must choose whether or not we pursue the path. But every time we put our feet on the path and walk forward, He is with us. There will be endless plains to travel and rocky ridges to cross. There will be times of intense heat and days of bitter cold. There will be times when our carts breakdown and can’t go on. There will be rivers too great for us to cross. But just as the handcart pioneers were rescued, we, too, have a rescuer ever ready to save us and help us along the journey. Too many have forgotten why we are here. With the knowledge that we have, we should always be found moving forward on His pathway, and we should always be leading others to understand and to remember. This journey is all about coming to know the Savior and striving to be like Him. He is our great teacher. He is our healer. He is our example. He is our master. He is our rescuer. As the world calls out loudly to us with distractions, diversions, and enticements away from the journey of discipleship, let us hear and heed the voice of our beloved Master. May every step in this life be pointed to Him, so that, as Moroni said: “when he shall appear we shall be like him.” (Moroni 7:48)

In the most recent general Relief Society meeting, Sister Julie B. Beck, Relief Society general president, taught: “We study our history because it helps us change. Ultimately, the value of history is not so much in its dates, times, and places. It is valuable because it teaches us the principles, purposes, and patterns we are to follow, it helps us know who we are and what we are to do, and it unites us in strengthening the homes of Zion and building the kingdom of God on the earth” (Nov. 2010 Liahona or Ensign, 115).
There are many types of history: Church history, family history, world history, personal history. What have you learned or what changes have you experienced from your study of these history sources? Share your experiences with us at reliefsociety@ldschurch.org.
